Retinal, vitamin C and acids can live in the same routine. The trick is scheduling, not stacking.
Most irritation people blame on a single product is really a scheduling problem. Three strong actives applied on the same night will outpace what the barrier can repair before morning.
Start by splitting them across the week rather than the bottle. Vitamin C belongs to the morning, where its antioxidant work pairs with sunscreen. Retinal belongs to the night. Acids get their own nights, away from the retinal.
Give any new active four weeks before you judge it, and only introduce one at a time. If you cannot tell which product caused a reaction, you have added them too quickly.
